GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — Provincial Governor Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla Jr. allowed at least 14 cockpits to operate with temporary permits given by the provincial government. Last February 1, 2021, Remulla issued Executive Order no 2 series of 2021 allowing cockpit owners to operate for two months. The list of cockpits given the green light to temporarily operate are the New General Trias Sports Coliseum (NGSC) of Arnold Tacos, President of Association of Cockpit Operators and Owners in the Province of Cavite; Tagaytay City Cockpit; Binakayan Cockpit Arena; Cavite Coliseum in Panapaan, Bacoor City; Ternate Cockpit Arena; Dasmariñas (Arcontica) Cockpit Arena; Tanza Cockpit Arena; Malabon Grande Coliseum in Tejero, General Trias City; Silang Coliseum; Talaba Cockpit in Bacoor City, Alfonso Cockpit Arena; Indang Cockpit Arena; Cavite City Cockpit Arena and Naic Cockpit Arena. Each cockpit arenas has been given their respective schedule of operations starting Tuesday, Feb. 2, until March 31. The announcement was posted on the social media page of the Cavite Provincial Information and Communication Affairs Department (PICAD Cavite). Last October 2021, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases allowed cockfighting to resume in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status. The Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) authorized local governments to have the final decision on the resumption of operations of licensed cockpits. Cavite remains under MGCQ status until Feb. 28. Paying audience (trabisya), bet collectors (kristo) and outside foods and drinks inside the venue.
